Who Art in Heaven
In the second of a series of short devotionals on the Lord’s Prayer, By Pastor Peter Linnecar, we see that because Jesus is in heaven, the source of our lives is not in this world.
Our Father, “Who art in heaven” – there is a heaven, just as certainly as there is an earth. And God was the creator of the heavens and the earth.
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He identified with them and He said collectively, “Our Father, who art in heaven.” There’s something about the heavenly realm that’s wonderful: Christianity is all to do with God coming down from heaven to mankind so that we, on earth, might be identified with Him.
The fact that God is in heaven means that our life source, as His children, is from the heavenly realm. We are not of this world – our Father is in heaven.
