As part of the devotionals leading us through the Lords' Prayer, Pastor Linnecar shares with us how Jesus taught His disciples to pray, focuing this time on the phrase, 'but deliver us from evil'.

This phrase must have been so poignant to Jesus in His heart because He knew what was going to happen in His own life when He was going to give up His life for you and for me.

At that point evil thought it had triumphed and the devil seemed to be laughing Him to scorn. However, when Jesus taught His disciples to say but deliver us from evil, He knew what He was about to do in answer to the Father’s will, and evil would have no power on the inside of an individual anymore.

When you and I ask God that we might be protected from the evil one, we are, because His life, Christ’s life is inside us.
